On February 16, 2010, the 8th grade students in Mrs. Wollenburg's Agricultural Careers course shared information, fun and baked goods with other staff and students in the school during "Grain on the Brain."
For the last couple of weeks, 8th grade students wrote to local and nation-wide companies to request information on and samples of grain products. Some students received coupons to purchase cereal or flour. Other students received actual grain products. A HUGE thank you goes out to our local supporters: Bunge Mills, Monsanto and Syngenta.
After students wrote to the various companies they chose, they received a great deal of information. Students created booths in the classroom where they shared their information with the guests who visited. One of the main attractions of the event included the baked goods students made using a variety of different grain flours. Examples included sorghum pancakes, millet muffins, whole wheat bread, whole wheat chocolate chip cookies and much more!
Be on the lookout for the event of the next 8th grade class!
