Fire Prevention Week
During Fire Prevention Week, October 8-14 we will be doing different activities to help promote safety for our students and community. On Wednesday, October 11 at 1:30 pm the Wilber Fire Department will respond to our practice drill. Fire trucks and emergency vehicles will report to the school as our students are vacating the building. We do this drill with the local fire department once a year, so our students can see the firefighters and understand the response to an emergency call/situation. After the firefighters have cleared the building they will break into groups of 2 and visit an elementary classroom. They will speak to our students about safety and being prepared with a emergency plan in place. Please take this time to do the same with your family. During that week, papers will be sent home for each student/family to design their emergency plan. They will practice with their family and post their plan for all to see-babysitters or guests to the house. It is important that each child knows and can identify the meeting place for your family. The other thing is to check smoke detectors, it is imperative that you make sure you have working smoke detectors in your home.
