Board Retreat Minutes
January 16, 2013
A special meeting of the Board of Education of Wilber Clatonia Public Schools was convened and called to order by the president, Bob Sykes, in open and public session on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the NASB meeting room in Lincoln at 9:00 a.m. The meeting was for the purpose of district planning. The roll call was taken and the following Board members were present: Bob Sykes, Chris Cerveny, Scott Havel, Jerry Petracek, Michelle Pryor and Tim Riechers. Also present were Ray Collins, Superintendent and Mike Lucas, Facilitator.
Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication and/or posting in accordance with the Board approved method for giving notice of meetings. Notice of this meeting was given in advance to all members of the Board of Education. Availability of the Agenda was available in the Superintendent’s office. All proceedings of the Board of Education, except as may be hereinafter noted, were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public.
President Sykes announced that a current copy of the Open Meetings Act was posted on the wall of the meeting room. Board members reviewed consent items and approved the agenda.
The Board retreat was then called to order by President Sykes at 9:15 a.m. The Board had an ongoing discussion throughout the day concerning: building needs, curriculum for the district; test results for the district; staff survey results; district goals and goal attainment; and characteristics of the principal the district would like to attract to replace our outgoing principals.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. Allen Brozovsky, Elementary Principal, Evan Wieseman, High School Principal, and Keith Muller, Assistant Secondary Principal and Curriculum Director, joined the group for more discussion on the goals, curriculum, data, etc.
President Sykes adjourned the retreat at 4:00 p.m.
